What a FANTASTIC Saturday Special we have just had! Our families came to enjoy a wonderful Clay Workshop provided by our fantastic parent - Evelyn. Thank you so much for providing such a fun activity for all to enjoy. The children made insects with the clay and decorated them with lentils and foliage. The children worked together to create a large "Hungry Caterpillar" out of paint and paper plates - see if you can find him in the building! Other activities included threading pasta on to pipe cleaners, play dough, fishing for insects and inspecting them with magnifying glasses. We told the story of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and then created fruit kebabs using food from the story. The children were great at chopping the fruit and threading it onto the sticks. Some even made repeating patterns! Thank ou to everyone involved, we had a great turn out! Looking forward to our next one!

It is that time of year again when our garden begins to spring back to life and our families came to help get it ready! The children planted herbs and flowers that smelt delicious and looked beautiful. We worked as a team to fill the tyres with soil and water the plants. The children planted peas and beans to take home as well as cress and sunflower seeds. The children took part in observational drawings of flowers and made their own tissue paper bouquets. We practised filling and pouring in the water tray and enjoyed the sunshine. After the children made their own sandwiches to enjoy as a picnic.

Happy Lunar New Year to all our families! It is the Year of the Snake this year and all our children have really enjoyed making snakes. The children explored the colour red and enjoyed the sensory toys on the red blankets. The children enjoyed making marks in the sand and using the black paint to try and create Chinese Symbols of the Zodiac. After our families had made their own animal masks we held our very own "Great Race" and created the Grace Owen Zodiac. Suzi told all the families a wonderful story using props and puppets whilst our hidden helpers prepared a delicious 'deconstructed' stir fry for the children to enjoy. Once our bellies were full we performed a lion dance and Lunar New Year parade in the garden. The children blew bubbles and banged drums. It was lot's of fun!
