Spring 1 Learning in the Under 3's Room

January 6, 2025

We have had a wonderful start to the term in the Under 3s room. We started off the term getting to know our new children and families. We began the term with our ‘Hello song’ which helped us to learn all the children and staffs names. We also continued to add to our family photo book and our new children have loved to look through and find themselves and their families. We then focused our learning around some familiar nursery rhymes. The children particularly enjoyed ‘The Grand Old Duke of York’ where we took part in lots of fun and exciting activities. We set up obstacle courses and practiced our climbing and jumping. We also set up a development movement mat which the children loved to explore and expressed themselves through lots of wonderful movements.

This term at nursery in the Under3's room we enjoyed learning all about Lunar new year. We took part in some Lunar new year activities, we created some beautiful artwork using the gold and silver paints and stamps and also enjoyed our noodle tuff tray, practicing scooping them up into the bowls. We also tried some different foods at nursery at snack time, we loved the prawn crackers, rice and fortune cookies! This was very exciting.

For the second half of our spring term we focused our learning on transport, we had so much fun creating our very own bus and the children loved to take it in turns to be the bus driver. We sang "the wheels on the bus" as we played and did a great job acting out the song. The children also enjoyed taking part in lots of exciting things using the different vehicles, such as tyre track painting, car racing and lots more! We also watched the buses near nursery and got very excited as they drove past.

What a wonderful start to the new year! We have had so much fun in the Under 3s room and can’t wait to see what next half term brings!
