This term in the Under 3s room we have been busy getting to know all our new children and families. We started off the term with our ‘Hello song’ which helped us to learn all the children and staff’s names. They loved to learn each others names and will call them out throughout the day, as well as the adults. We have also created We also had ago at practicing signing the first letter of each of our names and did such a great job at this. We then focused our first term around all our getting to know me songs, some of our favourite songs were tommy thumb, head shoulders knees and toes and where have all the children gone?! The children have been doing a great job at labelling and finding their body parts and we played lots of games to help us learn these.
For our autumn work we enjoyed creating lots of wonderful autumn crafts, including leaf printing, conker rolling, playdough spiders and lots more. We also created a treasure bag foreach child to take home to fill with autumn treasures found on a walk with their friends and family. Families then brought these treasures into nursery and we explored them in our tray, exploring the different colours and textures. We also used the things we found to create some wonderful autumn sticky pictures.
At nursery we celebrated Black History month. We focused our learning on Garrett Morgan, who was the first black man to create the traffic light. We created some wonderful traffic light pictures using the dabbers and practiced learning our colours, focusing on red, green and yellow. We then linked this learning to our transport theme and the children loved this! They had so much fun racing the cars. We then developed our learning and understanding further, learning different concepts such as stop and go and also fast and slow. The children did a great job at this!
All our children have settled in beautifully and we are so proud of all of their achievements this term and we can’t wait to see what Autumn 2 brings!
