The Past and the Future

Grace Owen was an Early Years Teacher who was awarded the OBE for services to young children.
When Park Hill was being built in the sixties, she gave £10,000 to establish a Nursery School.
Grace Owen Nursery School opened in 1963 when Grace Owen was 92 years old.

The first headteacher was Miss Cole of Cole Brothers (now John Lewis).
The school has been part of a thriving community community that has seen many changes.
Jean Jones OBE was headteacher from January 1991 to 2010. She was awarded the OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in 2010 for services to Early Years Education.
During her stewardship the school was twice judged to be outstanding by OFSTED.
Linda Hoyle took over as Acting Headteacher in September 2010. She is already familiar with the school as she covered the previous head's absence during 2009/10. Linda is an experienced teacher who has worked as deputy headteacher/acting head. She has recently worked for the Local Authority advising and supporting nursery classes in many schools.

We are now embarking on the next phase of the journey with the development of Park Hill by Urban Splash.
Phase 1 is well under way and consultations continue between Splash and Grace Owen.
